Cash or trade for junkers in any condition, "dogs" that don't have much demand, Contender or Encore, including Encore muzzle loader barrels.
I need barrels I can have rebored, I can reline myself, rechamber, or otherwise rework/refinish to fill requests not otherwise doable without making complete barrels "from scratch."
Currently many such projects end up as .357 Rem. Max., .300 Whisp-R Imp., and .30 Bellm.
Most all barrels, unless the lug has been sprung, have value. Value depends on overall condition and what parts have to be replaced to bring them into good service. Bottom line with all lug parts and forend dovetail/s present is $50. Sights are not critical.
Bores can be rusted, gouged, screwed up rechamber attempts, etc. External finish not important.
The basic lug, small parts, and the drilling/tapping/forend dovetails, etc. are where the value is.
Over 30 years experience making treasures out of trash.

I have a 7 Mag ProHunter barrel I would like to turn into a 204 RUger or 22-250, either by sale and rebuy, or a trade. The barrel is virtually as new, just very minor frame marks on it. It has had maybe 40 rounds down it. Stainless, fluted, 28". The one time I shot it, it held right at MOA at 100 yards, shooting in a gale force wind with a rickety bench.I took the barrel in on a trade I made primarily for the frame. I didn't need the 7Mag, as I already have a bolt gun in that caliber.
I would like to get at least $250 for the barrel, including about 40 rounds of premium ammo with it. Or a straight up trade for a 204 or 22-250 stainless barrel.

Anyone with Contender Rifle barrels in .250 or 300 Savage calibers. I reduce loads abit to make sure they aren't dangerous, and use slow powders. I am interested in buy either caliber for my cntender.
Note by Mike Bellm: I made a number of .250 and .300 Savage barrels back in the 80's and 90's, as did most of the other aftermarket makers.
When not pushed to the limit, handloaded down a bit, they work fine. But I found that factory ammo with these is just a bit over the limit of what the Contender will handle without extraction problems and excessive frame stretch. |
