The company that I own was founded in 1979 by my father Dennis Michael Bellm after a mentorship under the late great P.O. Ackley inventor of the Ackley Improved rounds and world renowned gunsmith. For those of you who are not familiar with P.O. he was most notably known for the revision of rounds into what many call "WILDCAT" rounds by improving their design to optimize performance. The way I recall my father getting involved wtih P.O. was dad had dropped off an action to be rebarreled and after not hearing a word from P.O. for quite some time he stopped by the shop to check on it only to get an ear full from P.O. about patiently waiting for custom work. I'm sure after a long discussion an accord was reached and my dad managed to talk P.O. into a mentorship where dad would slowly learn the trade and then purchase some of the much needed equipment from P.O. Soon after opening the doors to his own gunshop a customer walked in with a T/C Contender who was shooting matches and less than satisfied with the accuracy of the Contender asking my dad to evaluate the weapon for improvements. Having never owned a T/C my dad was fascinated by the weapon and it's potential but determined some custom parts were needed to correct some simple flaws in design, BELLM T/Cs custom parts business was born.
We are a firearms LEGACY company for nearly 45 years! I was 6 years old when my father opened his doors and at that age there's a lot I don't recall but the one thing I do remember is my own personal fascination with guns and the shooting sports. Since as young as I can remember I've been taking guns apart just to see how they function, always managing to get them back together and functioning better than before. I've always had a keen interest in the design and mechanics of firearms. I've managed to self instruct through a lot of trial and error. You could say that I grew up working around guns, I learned to reload at a very young age and have been servicing my own weapons, have taken several armorer courses, but even with that said I learned the hard way by getting my hands dirty and jumping into problems with an open mind to learn from my mistakes. I've had a love for the shooting sports industry for as long as I can remember.
I joined the US ARMY INFANTRY at the age of 17, the year prior to desert storm. I was light years in front of my class in general understanding of firearms and marksmanship thanks in part to what I learned working along side my father in his gun shop. Of all the things I've learned from my dad, thinking my way through complex mechanics of firearms, general marksmanship and learning the art of reloading are by far the most valuable lessons.
In 2010 my father called me up out of the blue and asked if I would be interested in taking over the parts business. Insisting on doing things my way, Stephanie and I started out with just a handful of products Dad had developed over the years. We immediately started carrying the majority of Thompson Center accessories and quickly grew our product list to several hundred products that we designed and had manufactured to better serve the custom needs of our customers. In 2015 we obtained a federal firearms license and quickly grew to one of the nations top T/C dealers online. For over 13 years I've been expanding my companies offerings in to what you see today, a massive collection of products and information. Fast forward to 2023, Thompson Center Arms as a company appears to be a thing of the past. Yet we continue to grow our product line and serve the our customer base of over 45 years with a growing product line and outstanding customer service second to none.
Owning a legacy FIREARMS business is something I'm very proud of.
We've come a long way in 40 years but our story is still being written. I'm proud to present to you our new website focused on providing you our valued customer the BEST selection anywhere and backed by a company that cares about you, your time and the shooting sports. I am an avid hunter, reloader, marksman, and firearms specialist. I don't like to refer to myself as a "gunsmith" because that's not what I am. I specialize in a few specific weapons, I know the Thompson Center single shots and I am an AR15 armorer. I know the shooting sports through my own passionate involvement in the sports. I'm an outdoorsman, a patriot, a soldier for the Lord. I know what it means to serve, I defend the 2nd Amendment and the rights that come with it.
I LOVE what I do for a living. I get to work with the most versatile firearm on the planet and I get to deal with the BEST customers in the firearms industry. From the weekend hunters to the dedicated reloaders and competitive shooters, we are truly blessed. I believe that the greatest compliment you could ever receive is a referral from your customers so I work hard to earn referrals and reviews.
