CONTENDER Interlock Safety for G1 Contenders and SSK50 frames.
The interlock safety serves the function of allowing the block safety to fall. When the barrel is shut the locking bolts of the barrel TURN the interlock to the side allowing the block safety to fall. The original OEM interlocks from
TC are known for breaking, these are heat treated and much stronger making it a needed upgrade to every G1 Contender. Be sure to LOOK at the style your contender currently uses, if there is a screw that goes through the middle of the interlock this is the correct replacement and generally seen in frames over the 195K serial number aka G1. (I don't have a replacement yet for the open front style)
Be sure to consider a new Bellm interlock safety screw and spring when ever upgradings.
Replacement is fairly simple. With the barrel off the receiver use an appropriate width flat blade bit to remove the existing interlock screw. Always a good idea to clean behind the interlock and use a good lubricant on the screw and hole that the interlock screw goes through. I use constant tension tweezers to line up the interlock and screw to the hole and carefully turn not forcing the threads, do not cross thread the screw it will damage the threads. Before and during tightening verify that the spring is not binding and push down the spring to align once tightened.
