Your stock firing pin return spring takes quite a lot of abuse. Due to the frail construction of the stock spring, dry firing, not correcting headspace, and not cleaning this part of the frame, they need to be replaced periodically. One look at the picture above shows the difference in our spring and a lightly used factory spring. Our heavy duty firing pin return springs are heat treated and designed to absorb the impact of heavier hammer springs and repeated use. Because our springs are a larger wire diameter than the factory, headspace correction is recommended but these also work great for a stock replacement.No gunsmith needed replacement instructions, Anyone can do this. Remove the barrel from the frame. You will need to push back the interlock on the right side of your frame in order to cock the hammer. This is the flat metal piece that moves back and forth in order to tell the frame a barrel is securely closed, you'll have to trick it in order to cock the hammer. Next with a 7/64" allen key remove the firing pin bushing screw located directly above the firing pin on the outside of the frame just above where the hammer impacts firing pin, this screw retains the firing pin bushing. Once the screw is removed, the firing pin bushing, firing pin and spring will come out as a unit. Note the stock firing pin return spring is cone shaped and the pointed end is pointed to the back of the frame, the wider end of the spring towards the bushing. Now is a great time to clean the firing pin bushing and firing pin using a good gun cleaner, I prefer Hoppes Gun Cleaner elite or better yet is MPRO7. This area gets a lot of carbon buildup and is important to keep well cleaned especially if you are shooting a muzzle loader. Make sure you periodically clean this area of the frame and components. A light coating of anti rusting lubricant wouldn't hurt anything on the spring and firing pin bushing, WD40 or similar.Replace the stock spring with ours and re assemble. Value Priced 5 Pack
No gunsmith Needed, ANYONE can do this. With the barrel removed put your finger inside right of frame to hold the spring loaded flat piece of metal called the interlock to the rear of the frame to allow you to cock the hammer. With a 7/64 allen key remove the bolt that is directly above the back of the firing pin on the outside back strap of frame. The firing pin bushing firing pin and spring come out the front. Now is a great time to clean inside this part of the frame and inspect the firing pin for damage and needing replaced. The cone of the firing pin faces the cone tip of the spring pre install in the firing pin bushing then carefully reinstall the bushing to the frame making sure the threaded part of bushing aligns with the hole and threads of firing pin screw. Don't over tighten the screw. Pull the trigger and manually let the hammer done. Simple Job Done! Great job.
