Whether you simply change springs to lighten the pull weight or do a complete trigger job on your G2, this pliers and spring kit make the job simpler and more economical. Installation of the spring requires first removing the trigger guard pivot pin, the trigger guard and its return spring, then the smallest pin in the frame which is the trigger pivot pin. Before removing the trigger, note how the end of the spring is inserted through the hole in the trigger AND how the small torsion spring on the trigger of the G2 rebounds off the assembly pin (Do not confuse the trigger/sear spring with the spring and plunger installed in the trigger with an "E" clip.... Encore Only, this is just to keep the trigger in position. DO NOT remove it.) Remove the trigger. Next push out the next larger pin ONLY enough to allow the trigger/sear spring to drop out. Grasp the Bellm Custom trigger/sear spring by the coils so that the straight end of the spring is toward the bottom of the frame and pointed to the rear of the frame. Catch the coils from opposite side of the frame with a 3/32" pin punch (available in the Tools section of this store)and guiding the coils into position for the pivot pin to pass through as you tap it in. By pushing the coils back, you can now clear the coils with the assembly in. Making sure the opposite end with the curved tip is pressing on the forward side of the sear (see photos in the springs section of the store here to see what this looks like), push the spring into position while tapping the sear pivot pin in. For simply installing the custom spring, there is no need to disassemble the frame any further. Reverse the process to reassemble the frame, but note that when installing the trigger guard pivot pin, you must depress the plunger in the trigger so the pivot pin can pass over it! You MUST ALWAYS make two safety function checks:1) Make sure the hammer will not readily push off. 2) When the frame is reassembled, make sure the hammer will rebound when your finger is removed from the trigger. You can perform the safety function checks above before reinstalling the trigger guard and its return spring. For more details regarding Encore & G2 triggers, either get the Encore/G2 Trigger Job Instructions as a download from the main tech support section of the website (join newsletter) or purchase the printed instructions here on the online store. Note that pull weights will vary significantly from one frame to the next, especially if any polishing or other changes are made to the trigger, sear, or hammer. Choose from the drop down menu below: #1 spring for a pull weight of approx 3 1/2 to 4 pounds #2 spring for a pull weight of approx. 3 to 3 1/2 pounds, #3 spring for a pull weight of approx. 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 pounds, or #4 spring for a pull weight of approx. 2 to 2 1/2 pounds. These values are approximate and can vary a lot from one frame to the next. They are presented as an average only. For example, we find the top of the trigger hits more on the end of the sear than on the bottom, and this alone can increase the pull weight with any given spring by a couple pounds or more. Note that the #4 and lighter trigger/sear springs require altering the sear notch so the hammer will stay cocked. Use the combination of both the 80 degree Diamond EZE Lap and 80 degree Arkansas Stone for this job. If you are not up to the chance you might have to alter the sear notch, do not choose the #4 spring.
Tip: Print this page out so you have the disassembly/reassembly sequence and safety function checks handy. No printed detailed instructions come with the springs or pliers BUT you can download the manual for free from our tech support section or buy the printed manual version off the website. This pliers and spring kit is one of the best ways to quickly make the G2 trigger more "user friendly" and help you do your best shooting.
